背景
957YK春，奈尔卡德 莱纳尔出生于时属瑟雷恩的沙都卡（Shadukar）城。四岁那年，坎纳斯的铁蹄踏入了沙都卡。肆意的屠杀与无情的火焰几乎吞噬了城中所有的生灵。奈尔卡德的半精灵母亲，一位银焰教会的牧师，背着年幼的奈尔卡德，与一批幸存者在城中顽强地坚持到了援军的到达。然而奈尔卡德的父亲，却在这场浩劫中失去了音信。
从沙都卡攻城战中生还下来的人们却也已失去了家园，而终末战争期间的瑟雷恩边境却又是战火不断。980YK春，坎纳斯的大军再次踏入了瑟雷恩的边境。才从沙都卡的废墟中迁徙至欧拉斯（Olath）的母子两人再次面对了潮水般涌来的坎纳斯亡灵。为了保卫家园，尚未成年的奈尔卡德也拿起了武器，与众多欧拉斯的年轻人一同参与了抵抗。
994YK，当那场灾难来临时，跨越了半个大陆的光芒仍几乎刺伤了每一个欧拉斯人的眼睛。那一天，战争结束了，边境人民饱尝的战争结束了。

观念
银焰的教义充斥着日常生活，梦族的呼唤则主宰了梦境。主观上认为自己是一个银焰信徒的奈尔卡德，其信仰似乎也没有自己所认为的那么坚定；
战争的仇恨已随着哀伤之日远去，但仅有坎纳斯例外，奈尔卡德至今仍无法忘记那些在侵略中死去的乡邻，以及那些坎纳斯的不死大军；
近乎一个标准的瑟雷恩人，奈尔卡德尊敬一切值得信赖的同伴。而对于无法容忍的罪恶，奈尔卡德更倾向于用最迅速的手段将其彻底粉碎。

灵能
由于缺少与同族的接触，奈尔卡德对天赋的心灵异能几乎全无了解，对梦族与魇灵间的恩仇也只有着梦境般的认识。直到最近，与一位同族潜短接触后，相关的知识才如同潮水般不断地涌入了“梦境”。
