I want to know Chinese Character Name

But surnames sound strange, there family names exist but are rarely seen.

if you need some naming advice:

剧透 -   : Most of names belong to a few common surnames like 王, 李, 孙, 刘, 张. I guess you already know it and are not satisfied with these, so...

Well, there are some surnames that sound fancy so are popular for naming fictional characters. 叶 for example, others include 楚, 萧, 苏, 夏, my personal pick is 秦 for no particular reason. Some 俺tueee系 characters are named 龙, but it becomes a cliché and a meme now so I’d rather not do this.

If you wanna more power then you can just use compound surnames like 欧阳, 慕容 and so on. This is a dark art that can easily make your character sounds overly fancy so be careful.

And I have to say, as you are creating a character, family name like "赵銭孙李" is quite normal.
If you are going to creat a beloved character, maybe you would like to make him/her a little different.
Even if you use  "慕容欧阳"  which is really cool in a Chinese TRPG designing, as other Japanese don't know "they are cool in China", maybe not a good idea.

I guess the most important point is to find out why karl800 would like to use such family names. Then the advices would be reliable.

 Yes, I think 王, 李, 孙, 刘, 张 are so common as runner's name.  I think 浮华的 names are better. So I used those family names.

 I named my Chinese character from "孔门十哲","封神演义","三国志","凌烟阁二十四功臣","云台二十八将" and "水浒百八星".

 But, I understand some of their family name is old fashion.

 I made one more male character.

分かりました。要は、「日本人に珍しい感」「中国语でも変ではない」その二つの条件だよね～

「谢」は见惯れる苗字として别にいいけど、「洪才」は前世纪の命名趣味で、急におじさんっぽいｗｗｗｗ
「世嘉」は使わない。理由はSEGA。だが、「逢」という苗字を使っている人がまだいると思う。セーフ。
「希朗」はシロウじゃんｗｗｗｗ日本语できる中国人として、一见「これ日本人の命名じゃない？」という直接な冲撃ｗｗｗ
「凝雨」と「可琳」は実にいい。特别に「凝雨」は中国语でも立派な命名。美人予定。但し、皆さんの仰っていた通り、「闘」と「麹」は使わない。
って、中国人のあたしとして、「麹」も初见なんですの。
（辞书に调べて）ああ、「曲」の繁体字か。「曲」はいいね。

P.S:

One advice (as shotgun sequencing):
You list 20~30 family names.
We pick up the usable family names for you. So you would be able to choose from these.
( I think it would not be as effective when dealing with first names, because the feeling of Chinese first names would change when they are matched with different family names.)
