Assuming I make it out of here alive, I’ll log in to
JackPoint and talk about the fle a bit. I’m still not
comfortable with it and, as you can tell, it’s more
of a collection of notes and speculation instead of
true scientifc thoughts laid into a proper format,
but, I’ve been guzzling tequila and some medical
herbs that I don’t quite recognize out here, so I’ll
be amazed if it comes through at all. Elijah, signing off, hopefully not for the last time.
> And for those who’ve been pestering me for the past week
since the fles dropped, I can say both that he made it
through and that he’s here to answer a few questions. Go
easy on him, kids, he’s been through some rough times,
and I’m not sure how long he’ll be able to stay. He’s still
recovering.

> Butch
> One of the areas I went to had a few Azzies around who
hadn’t gotten word that they lost the territory a couple of
years ago. Extraterritorality, how does that work? And of
course, my history with the Big A didn’t help things much.
At any rate, I was putting my nose where it should not be,
and while the bullet barriers worked wonders, I missed
the grenade. Shrapnel is not your friend. On the plus side,
I don’t have any metal parts and my organs are mostly
functional, but one kidney’s done and there’s some other
intestinal issues that might require bioware replacement.
I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it or not. The debt’s bad,
but I’ve seen the impact even minor upgrades can have
on a magician’s aura, and I’m not sure if the tradeoffs
worth it.

> The entire reason I was down in the Rio Gambit
territory was to get my astral eyes on the prize. In
this case, that’s the fovae, magical nullspace that’s
only been found in Aztlan. I can confrm that they’re
real, which we essentially knew. They’re not mana
voids, or at least they aren’t in the traditional way.
Magical energies that enter them are snuffed out, and
paranormal animals that are forced into them don’t
die as they would in a true magic vacuum. Instead,
they lose their paranormal abilities while they’re in
them. Spirits won’t go in them no matter how well
bound, but elementals will.

large the elemental, no matter how small the fovae,

an hour or two and you won’t really understand what
happened, but you don’t die. You can even switch to astral
perception inside of one and you won’t empty out like you
do in a true void. It feels like you’re being sucked out of
your body through your eyeballs, but you’re still inside
your body, so you don’t leave, but …

greater danger than if you exhale. There’s … well, I’m

that, in space, the metahuman body has a small window.
For the astral form, lacking any of that protective shell, the

UMT is that all magic flows from the same source. That
astral energies are formed by living beings, and all of
us—hermetics, shamans, voodoo, psionics, whatever—
draw our power from the same place. It’s wrong. There
